Media Cricket Tournament commences from 26th

LAHORE - The Ghauri Tyre Media Cricket Tournament will roll into action under the aegis of the Lahore Press Club (LPC) here at the Wahdat Road cricket ground from August 26.
As many as 32 teams of print, electronic and new agencies comprising council members of the LPC will take part in the tournament while the exhibition matches will also be played in which politicians, actors, doctors, bureaucrats and businessmen will participate, this was revealed in a press conference here at the LPC and was jointly addressed by its president Arshad Ansari, vice president Nadeem Basra, Ghauri Tyres’ Naeem Mir and Director Mian Afnan.
Appellate committee chairman Qayyum Zahid, senior sports journalist Sarfraz Ahmad and former Holland cricket team captain Asim Khan were also present on the occasion.
The LPC president said that the winners of the tapeball floodlight cricket tournament would earn Rs 100,000, the runners-up would receive Rs 50,000, player of every match would get Rs 1000 each while fair play trophy would also be awarded. “Governor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana will inaugurate the tournament.”
Arshad added that four matches would be played daily and every match would be of five overs. “The tournament will be a festival for the journalists and provide them opportunity to take part in the healthy activities besides doing their duties.”
The LPC chief also assured foolproof security for the smooth conduct of the event and also informed IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera and CCPO Amin Wains seeking their support to make the event peaceful and successful.
At the end, the LPC president, vice president and senior sport journalists along with sponsors unveiled the tournament kit.
