LAHORE - Pakistan A crushed Kenya by 108 runs in the fifth and last match of the five-match one-day series to whitewash the vistors 5-0 here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Pakistan A won the toss and elected to bat first. They were dismissed for 169 runs in 44.2 overs. Lastmatch’s man of the match Mukhtar Ahmed was the only notable player who hammered 115-ball 78 runs hitting eight boudaries. No other player played well for the team and lost their wickets below 20 score. N Odhiambo, M Odhiambo, JO Ngoche and SO Ngoche were the bowlers who got two wickets each for Kenya while JL Bhimji got one wicket.
In reply, Kenya were all out for meager 61 runs in 23. 1 overs. EB Ringera was the only batsman who could reach the double figures as he made 42-ball 15 runs with the help of 2 fours. Zia ul Haq was the wrecvker of Kenya innings as he clinched four wickets for eight runs while Mir Hamza, Ahmed Jamal were the other bowlers who took two wickets each for 3, 21 and 25 runs respectively. Saeed Ajmal, playing in only his second competitive match after being suspended by ICC for an illegal bowling action, continued to make a strong statement with his new action securing figures 2-25. With a better performance in the second match, Ajmal has certainly laid the pathway for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 return.
Mukhtar Ahmad was once again named player of the match for his brilliant knock.
Talking to the reporters after the match, Kenyan team coach Steve Tikolo said: “Though my team lost the series, but actually we are the winners as my boys learnt a lot from this series and got much-needed experience which will certainly help us against the World Cup qualifying matches against Namibia next month.”
“We are thankful to Pakistan and the PCB for their great hospitality and we are bringing back very positive message with us. We were provided foolproof security and this was, in fact, the most remarkable tour for us.” Winning team captain Fawad Alam said: “We are very happy with this 5-0 victory. All the boys worked very hard and bowlers were especially very good with the ball as they thrice bowled the Kenyan team below 100 runs. We did our best to help the team score impressive victories and I hope these performances will also impress the selectors.”
