Governors Cup Golf Championship begins today

LAHORE - The 31st Millat Tractors Governors Cup Golf Championship will commence from today (Friday) here at the Lahore Gymkhana golf course.
This was said by convener golf Agha Ali Imam at a press conference held here at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Club on Thursday along with Ahsan Imran of Millat Tractors, tournament director Omer Zia and Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed of Lahore Gymkhana. The champion golfers from across the country have converged to the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course with the sole aim of attaining and achieving honors in this prestigious event.
Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed said: “This championship has a history of its own. Introduced in the year 1984, it now enters the 31st year. As for Millat Tractors, they have been sponsoring this event for 21 years in succession. We greatly acknowledge the patronage of Millat Tractors for sponsoring this event for over two decades.”
Omer Zia highlighted essential details of the various events. The men amateurs net and gross events will be held over 3 rounds. The net and gross events for seniors 55 years and above will be held over 18 holes from tomorrow (Saturday). The net and gross events for veterans 70 years and above will be held over nine holes. The net & gross events for ladies will be held over 2 rounds.
Qasim Khan is the defending champion while other notable contenders are Mohsen Zafar, Salman Jehangir, Wazir Ali, Taimoor Khan, Waleed Zubair, Nadeem Aslam and Dr Dildar Hussain. Ahsan Imran of Millat Tractors said that this was the golden jubilee year for Millat and they had contributed to the development of farmers and enhanced their means of livelihood.
