Election process starts for POA top slot

The Election Commission of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has directed all the interested candidates to submit their nomination papers till June 24 to contest the body’s elections scheduled to be held here on July 5.
The POA election commission led by Justice (retd) Mian M Ajmal finalised all the arrangements to conduct the free, fair and transparent elections and asked all the interested candidates to download the election nomination form from the POA interim committee website or obtain from main office of the committee. The process of election already started from June 18 and last date to submit nomination papers is June 24. The interim committee will declare the electoral roll on June 25-26, the scrutiny committee of the election commission will meet for scrutiny of the nomination papers and announcement of decisions, June 27 will be the final date for filing of objections against the electoral roll while June 28 is the final date of appeals against rejection of nomination papers and June 30 will be the date of hearing of appeals and decisions against rejection of nomination papers. On July 2, the notification of final list of nomination papers and electoral roll will be issued while elections will be held on July 5.
Other members of election commission are Justice (retd) Amanullah Khan Yasin Zai, former FBR chairman Mumtaz Haider Rizvi and Election Commission secretary M Younis.  It is pertinent to mention here that the Senate Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) also unanimously endorsed the national sports policy and advised ensuring transparency in the elections so that the loss which the country's sports experienced during the last couple of years could be overcome.
