RDKA honours Aamir

OUR STAFF REPORTER RAWALPINDI - Rawalpindi District Karate Association (RDKA) organised an award ceremony in the honour of karate player Aamir Mehboob who won bonze medal in nine countries Karate Championship including Japan and Malaysia in Colombo, Sri Lanka in May 2011. Aamir, who is a member of local a karate club - Nadeem Martial Arts Academy - , won gold medal in SAARC Karate Championship held in Nepal in 2010 and a bronze medal in nine countries WUKO Karate Championship in Dhaka Bangladesh. In recognition of his services, Rawalpindi District Karate Associations General Secretary Nadeem Azhar awarded the best player of Rawalpindi district medal to Aamir Mehboob. Speaking on this occasion, Nadeem Azhar said Rawalpindi district was replete with talented players and it was the time when investment should be done for new players so that the youth could be prevented from falling in the hands of terrorist and drugs menace. Our government and private sector must invest on promotion of sports and should give maximum exposure to new players who can represent country at international events, he said. Aamir thanks the Rawalpindi District Karate Association and his fellow karate players. He made a firm commitment to train youngsters and try his level best to bring more glory for Pakistan in the future too. He requested the local administration to provide best available facilities to the youth. He said though Rawalpindi District Karate players had no training facilities, yet they brought medals for Pakistan. He also requested the private sector to play their role to promote this sport in Pakistan as private sectors encouragement can play a major role in the promotion of karate in not only Rawalpindi but also in the whole country, he concluded.
