LAHORE Pakistans suspended Test captain Salman Butt is looking for a new lawyer to represent him in the ICCs hearing scheduled to be held in January. The ICC hearing will take place in Doha to decide on the spot-fixing allegations against the former captain. It is worth a mention that former cricketer-turned-lawyer Aftab Gul had withdrawn from Salman Butts. The ICC has asked the three players Salman Butt, Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif to submit details of their lawyers and other documents by November 19. It was learnt that that Butt had asked for an extension as he had not found a lawyer as yet. Mohammad Amir will be represented by Hamid Karim and Mohammad Asif by British lawyer Elizabeth Robertson. The two had already sent relevant details to the ICC but Butt had to ask for an extension. Salman is facing problem since his lawyer Aftab Gul has refused to represent him any longer. Gul had claimed he didnt want to be part of a procedure in which the ICC has already decided to take action against the three players and not allow them to play in the 2011 World Cup. The source said that Butt had contacted some legal firms in London to seek help. According to PTI though Butt is trying to hire a foreign lawyer but he is also trying to convince Aftab Gul to change his mind and represent him. If the suspended trio are not represented properly in legal terms at the ICC full hearing, they face a maximum sentence of a life ban if the code of conduct commission committee upholds the charges against them.
