ACP team meets minister

ISLAMABAD A four-man delegation of the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) called on Federal Minister of Tourism Maulana Ataur Rehman in his office at Islamabad on Thursday. The newly elected president ACP Col (retd) Manzoor Hussain headed the delegation while vice president Wing Cdr (retd) Jawaid Iqbal, secretary Abu Zafar Sadiq and member executive committee Karrar Haidri were the members of the delegation. On this occasion, Manzoor Hussain shared vision and plan of the ACP for the promotion of tourism in Pakistan and apprised the minister of ACP efforts in promoting trekking, mountaineering and mountain related adventure activities at grass root level. The club will shortly launch an awareness campaign in the educational institutions to attract youth towards adventure sports. We have planned to give some incentives to attract international mountaineers and trekkers to Pakistan, he informed minister. The minister appreciated the plan and activities of the ACP and assured his full support in their cause and efforts. The delegation also met Secretary Tourism Shahid Rashid and held discussion on various issues.
