Bungling board officials behind cricket downfall

ISLAMABAD - Bangladesh imposed an authoritative 3-0 whitewash on hapless Pakistan after winning the third and final One-day International (ODI) piling further misery on the visitors.
The defeat was arguably worst ever suffered by the green caps and it was the black day in Pakistan cricket history. Ever since the team was announced for Bangladesh tour, past greats and experts warned it could suffer heavy defeats, but no heed was paid in this regard.
Former Test captain Zaheer Abbas had predicted Bangladesh would impose whitewash on Pakistan because their morale was sky high, while Pakistan team was struggling. Ever since Haroon Rashid was named chief selector, the writing was very much on the wall, as he selected poor team, worst ever captain while pathetic self-styled coaching by tainted duo of Waqar Younis and Mushtaq Ahmad also ensured mission accomplished which Najam Sethi had already planned.
The most interesting thing to note in the entire episode was to minimize role of PCB chairman Shahryar M Khan, who looked hapless and it was clearly noticed that he was acting under the directions of Najam Seth who, despite not on the hot seat, still have been enjoying unlimited powers and imposing his decisions.
On what grounds, a person, who has not played ODI cricket for more than two years, was handed over captaincy and why a genuine all-rounder Umar Akmal, who could have resolved captaincy woes for a longer period of time, was dropped from the team and why Ahmed Shahzad was not given nod of approval for the ODIs. These two players can prove very beneficial for Pakistan batting, if utilized well and properly.
No Pakistan bowler impressed with his extraordinary bowling so we preferred to pick Wahab Riaz. Although Wahab failed to pick wickets, but he was the lone bowler who bowled with command, while all the other bowlers, including Junaid Khan, were given a real bashing by the Bangali batsmen. Pakistani bowlers were completely hapless against ordinary batting.”
Pakistan started their innings in a very bright fashion and after long time it seemed they might be able to put a very decent total on the board but same silly mistakes by the middle order and lower middle order once again resulted in major batting collapse and the entire team failed to play out their full quota of overs, losing first wicket at 91. Pakistan team kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and that too at very crucial stages of the match. It was outclass Bangladeshi bowling, but also poor shot selection, pathetic batting and casual approach which cost Pakistani batsmen dearly.
Fawad Alam, Hafeez and Rizwan were miserable. Pakistani team was all over the place, no planning and nothing was witnessed. What is the purpose of paying hefty amount of foreign currency to an army of coaches? Waqar is such an arrogant person that he never listen to or pay any heed to genuine suggestions and always continues with his self-styled policies, which on a number of occasions cost Pakistan team dearly. What was the reason of hiring Waqar when he had left the national team at a time when it was surrounded with controversies?
Why a person, who turns his back on the country, was handed over team’s responsibility? Waqar has no past track record or over the moon coaching expertise, then on what grounds Najam Sethi appointed him, Mushtaq and Grant Flower? Ever since this trio has taken over their responsibilities, there was a consistent decline in Pakistan team fortunes. Why persons sitting at the helm of affairs are keeping mum on such disgusting performances, why there is no one who could seek explanation from the responsible, who has destroyed Pakistan cricket? Now Pakistan lost number 7 place in ICC ODI rankings and if Waqar and company were not thrown away, there is every possibility Pakistan team might have to play qualifiers to enter the mega event.
It is national and moral duty of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to wake up and open his eyes or else Pakistan team past records will only be remembered in history books just like hockey. Cricket illiterate persons are solely responsible for the turmoil, any further delay in taking action would all but kill Pakistan cricket, the ball is now in PMs court, nation demand action.  It is high time when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is also PCB patron, should take stern action against those responsible for decline of Pakistan cricket and any delay in this regard can prove further harmful for cricket in Pakistan.
