Injured Woakes set to miss New Zealand series

LONDON - Chris Woakes is likely to miss England's upcoming Test series at home to New Zealand after undergoing knee surgery on Wednesday. The 26-year-old all-rounder tore his left meniscus while recovering from a foot injury sustained at the recent World Cup and will be sidelined for up to six weeks. If that prognosis is correct, Woakes will be unfit for the two Tests against New Zealand at Lord's and Headingley, starting on May 21 and May 29 respectively. He may also be struggling to make the subsequent one-day series against New Zealand.
