Mansoor off to flying start in Hashim Khan Memorial Squash

PESHAWAR - Former Asian Champion and British Junior Champion Mansoor Zaman off to a flying start after registering victory against M Yasir Khan in the main qualifying round of the Hashim Khan Memorial Pakistan International Circuit-II Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Saturday.
Lefty Mansoor took only 19 minute to eliminate his rival Yasir 11-5, 11-4 and 11-9 to record a stunning victory.     Besides Mansoor seven other matches were decided on the first day of the qualifying round. The match between Aqib Hanif and Raees Khan, the qualifier, provided great thrill as both were stretched to five sets battle, lasted for 51 minutes. Aqib lost the first set 9-11 but he came back strongly in the second and won the set by 11-9. It was the third set Raees again took the set by 4-11 but then Aqib did not look behind by winning two consecutive sets by 11-5 and 11-5 to seal the fate of rival 3-2.
The match between two youngsters Ahsan Ayaz and M Asim Khan stretched to four sets battle lasted for almost 72 minutes. Ahsan, the current national Under-19 Champion, defeated Asim 11-8, 6-11, 11-7 and 11-8. Bilal Zakir defeated Sadam-ul-Haq in straight sets 11-6, 11-9 and 11-9. Waqas Mehboob defeated Mamoon-ur-Rashid by -3, 11-4 and 11-5; Nosherwan Khan defeated Salman Zeb 11-4, 11-7 and 11-6; Zahir Shah outclassed Sajid khan 11-4, 11-3 and 11-3 while Owais Khan defeated M Naeem 11-9, 9-11, 11-7 and 11-3.
