114th Annual Sports of GCU conclude

LAHORE - Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rahman and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Khaleeq-ur-Rahman Sunday took part in the tug-of-war and other games at the concluding day of the 114th Annual Sports of the Government College University, Lahore.  The concluding ceremony, marked by the colourful Gymkhana event, was attended by a large number of Old Ravians from different walsk of life.
In his address, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said: “I feel proud to be an old student of 150-year-old GCU, which has produced not only scientists, bureaucrats, politicians but also a lot of world class athletes and all national teams of Pakistan always had representation of GCU.”
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, in his address, congratulated the winning students and said that sports had a profound effect on the physical fitness and mental health of students, which ultimately enhanced their capabilities and efficiency, besides it also taught tolerance and created an environment of competition.
Earlier, in the competitions, Noreen Asghar from Physical Education won Chatti Race, while Kiran Javed from Physical Education won Musical Chair. Intermediate student Iffat Ullah won the Obstacle Race, the most difficult competition of the day. Inter student, Subhan Maqsood, crossed the finish line fist in Sack Race, while M Rehman and M Sajjad from Urdu Department won Wheel Borrow Race. Rizwana from Physical Education remained first in 60-Metre Girls Race and Cricket Ball Throw competition. Intermediate students Usama, Zain and Usama won Four-Legged Race, while Syed Abid Ali won Old Ravians Race.
