LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan has said that they have been working on Pakistan Superb League (PSL) and its semi-finals and final will be conducted at home soil.
Speaking at the Waqt TV programme ‘Game Beat’, Shaharyar disclosed this and added that there was still a lot of work needed to be done to make the Pakistan Super League success. “We have been working hard on this project and it is hoped that it will be conducted successfully and provide the cricket crazy fans an opportunity to witness entertaining event. While it is good news for the local fans that they will witness the semi-finals and final at their home soil.”
Talking about the dual role of Moin Khan, the PCB chief said that Moin would continue in his dual role as manager and chief selector till the time the national team had been performing well. "The Board of Governors have given me complete authority to take a decision on this issue of persons holding dual or more roles in the cricket board or set-up."
The PCB chief said that he had the power to take decisions and he never takes any dictation from anyone. He said it was encouraging to see the way senior players and the youngsters combined to produce good results for the national team. “Misbah has great role as a captain as he has been leading the team in the best way and he has proved our faith in him correct. I hope he will do his best to in the World Cup 2015 and try to make it memorable for the entire nation.”
Lamenting on the quality of first class cricket and its system, Shaharyar said there was a dire need to change and improve it. “The quality of our first cricket is very poor especially the selection which is a major reason behind its downfall. I know there are some players playing the first class cricket who really don’t deserve to be in the playing XI. We are trying to improve it and make it better which will help us in getting better and quality cricketers.”
