PCB Governing Board rejects Ali's statements

LAHORE Members of PCB Governing Board, Ch Mohammad Anwar, Maj (R) Syed Naeem Akhter Gillani and Tariq Baloch, have slammed the recent statements made by MNA Iqbal Mohammad Ali against the Chairman PCB Mohammad Ijaz Butt. The BOG members came out in strong support of the Chairman and rubbished claims of mismanagement made by the MNA. In a joint statement, the members of the PCB Governing Board, who oversee the functioning of the Board, said, The recent barrage of negative statements by MNA Iqbal Mohammad Ali are not commensurate with the position that he holds. Membership of a standing committee does not mean that MNAs has open license to attack board officials. The PCB has always cooperated whenever called upon by any forum of Parliament yet the MNA has chosen to issue extremely derogative and statements of a personal nature against the Chairman PCB that have no place in a professional discourse between Parliament and Sports organizations. The further said: His statements hinting at regional biases in PCB selection procedures are especially harmful to the sport. Winning and losing is part of the game. We have taken a bold decision of inducting youngsters in the team and we will have to be patient. By asking for the Chairman to be removed it will only cause chaos and upheaval and will not benefit Pakistan cricket in any way. The constant sparring of PCB and its officials through press statements negates the image the board is trying to portray to the international community while trying to restart international tours. It would be better for everybody to join hands in reviving Cricket in Pakistan rather than arguing amongst each other on petty issues.
