LAHORE - Punjab chief secretary Naveed Akram Cheema is likely to be named chef de mission for Pakistan cricket team in World Cup 2015 to be jointly held by Australia and New Zealand. During his tenure as team manager, Naveed proved very strict manager and was very successful to bring discipline in the squad and keep them from controversies that helped the players to play as a unit and follow regulations. This discipline had yielded positive results and he left the post with his head high and therefore, PCB, once again, is keen to give him one of the main slots in the mega event. He is also likely to become full-time manager of Pakistan team after the end of the World Cup as PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan as well as the PCB governing board has already decided to relieve current team manager and chief selector from the dual duty. Moin who is very authoritative person in the board, wouldn’t agree for the post of assistant manager as it was also in the air that Naveed Cheema has been named manager of Pakistan team and Moin as assistant manager. But the sources said Moin would not like to be demoted as assistant manager and upon his insistence and backing from some quarters the PCB has decided to retain him as manager also till the World Cup.
