Pakistan disabled team lift ICC Academy PD T20 trophy

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan disabled cricket team lifted the ICC Academy PD T20 Tournament 2016 after defeating defending champions England by 3 wickets in the final played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

England, batting first, could score 137-5 in the allotted overs. Jamie Goodwin hit 40 runs while Gordan Laidlaw added 34 and Jordan Williams unbeaten 17. Nihaar Alam captured two wickets. ­Pakistan achieved the target in 19.2 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Hasnain Alam scored 39 and Jahanzeb Tiwana 29. For England, Dan Reynaldo took 2-24.

Captain Nihaar received the winners’ trophy from ECB disability cricket head Ian Martin. Hasnain Alam was declared man of the match and also received man of the tournament award. PDCA president Saleem Karim, secretary Amiruddin Ansari and others were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Ian Martin said: “We are looking forward to organise a cricket world cup for disabled in near future in England.”
