PHF officials get Indian visas

LAHORE - The Pakistan Hockey Federations (PHF) two-member delegation has obtained visas to visit India early next month to finalise the dates of Pakistan-India hockey series to be played on bilateral basis in March next year.
PHF president Qasim Zia and secretary M Asif Bajwa will be leaving for India on October 5 to finalise the dates and venues of the series which was last played between the two countries way back in 2007. “We are all set to leave to India to hold talks with our Indian counterparts after which we will be announcing the final schedule of the series,” said Bajwa here on Monday.
He said efforts would be made to draw a programme under which the Indian team may visit Pakistan first after which Pakistan team would be flying to India. “It is a good sign that both the countries will resume playing bilateral hockey series after a gap of four years and we firmly believe this event will greatly serve the cause of hockey in sub-continent besides raising its overall standards,” he added. It is imperative for Pakistan-India hockey that both the countries keep playing on regular basis to expose their players to competitive hockey, Bajwa concluded.
