RAWALPINDI - Rawalpindi clubs proved their superiority by defeating their respective opponents in the last league matches to book final meeting in the National U-16 Inter-Club Women Football Championship 2014 last round matches here at Divisional Public School football ground on Friday.
The biggest upset was witnessed, when one of the title favorites Diya Club Karachi was beaten by Soccer Queen Football Club Rawalpindi 1-0. In the first match of the day, hot favorites Young Rising Star Club (YRSC) brushed aside Fatima Jinnah FC Karachi 2-0. YRSC got off to a flying start as Amna Masood opened the scoring in the 5th minute of the first half to send wild celebrations among fans. Despite keeping lime share of possession in the first half, YRSF failed to add more goals. In the second half, Anorina of YRSC stepped up to score a magnificent solo goal in the 60th minute to help her team score victory.
In the second and last match of the day, Soccer Queen FC against all the odds managed to carve out sensational win. As per expectations, Diya Club managed to control the game right from the start but they failed to take advantage of their possession and first half ended 0-0. Wasting too many goal scoring opportunities cost Diya Club dearly as from nowhere against the run of play, just when Diya girls got relaxed, Soccer Queen girls took full advantage of the situation and Sara Latif provided the killer blow in the 66th minute to ensure her team a place in the final.
The final will be played on April 27 at 4pm which will be graced by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) chairperson women committee Senator Rubina Irfan as chief guest, while DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Dal will be the guest of honor at the occasion. Rs 75,000, trophy and medals will be given to the champions while Rs 50,000, trophy and medals will be handed over to the runners-up. The best player will pocket Rs 5000 and trophy, best goalkeeper will earn Rs 5000 and trophy, best scorer Rs 5000 and fair play team will receive Rs 10,000 and trophy.
