ISLAMABAD - Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has called for a performance-based central contract system for the Pakistan cricketers and said that players also needed to change their approach towards the game. Shoiab urged the pay increase for the national team and domestic players. “Boards make money because of the players but they must also be held accountable for their performances and if a player does not perform up to mark, he should be demoted in the central contract category immediately," he said. He said that people now wanted to see attacking cricket and one could not survive in the top if he did not play aggressively. He opined that Pakistan had a very good one-day side and was a top T20 squad but they only needed to change their approach towards the game. –Staff Reporter
