TIP feels appointment of Sethi as PCB chief not right

ISLAMABAD - A top official of the Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) says the appointment of Najam Sethi as acting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman is unconstitutional.
TIP chairman Sohail Muzaffar says in a statement on Tuesday that in the board's constitution, only board members can replace the chairman, meaning Sethi's appointment is ‘against all norms of transparency and merit.’ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed Sethi after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) asked the government to replace Zaka Ashraf, calling Ashraf's election as PCB chairman last month as ‘polluted’.
Sethi is a prominent journalist and also served as caretaker chief minister of Punjab province during the interim government. The TIP says that unless the government reviews its decision, the Supreme Court will have to step in to reverse Sethi's appointment.
