OUR STAFF REPORTER KARACHI - Former Pakistan cricket captain Zaheer Abbas has commended Beacon House School System for promoting the sport of cricket at school level. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the annual inter regional cricket tournament of Beaconhouse School System (BHSS) southern region here on Friday at Moin Khan Cricket Academy he said there was need to promote the sport in schools and that exactly what the BHSS was doing. He also spoke about the importance of sports in developing students all round personalities. He advised the students who were present in good numbers at the function to actively participate in such kind of activities. Teams from BHSS Karachi (Southern Region), Lahore (Central Region) and Islamabad (Northern Region) took part in the competitions. Central Region won the championship. Captain of the team Adnan Mujahid took winners trophy from the chief guest. Adnan also was declared best batsman and the player of the competition. The Runners up trophy went to the southern region's team and captain Ali Ashraf received the trophy. He also received the shields of the best bowler. Ammar Iqbal from southern region was declared the best wicket keeper. Shay a Gumbul of Central Region received the shield for being the best fielder.
