PIA beat Rawalpindi Region in QAT

ISLAMABAD – PIA carved out sensational two-wicket victory against Rawalpindi Region in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2016-16 fourth round Pool B match played here at Pinid Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. PIA, chasing 260 runs for victory on the final day, achieved the target in 43.5 overs losing eight wickets. Agha Sabir scored 72 runs while Fahad Iqbal added 38, Anwar Ali 38, Kamran Sajid 32 and Shahryar Ghani 27. Atuallah took 4 wickets for 76 and Abid Hasan 2 for 75. Earlier, Rawalpindi resumed their second innings at the overnight score of 259-6 and declared their innings at 337-7. Tamioor Khan made unbeaten 48. Aizaz Cheem and Anwar Ali took two wickets each. Majid Hussain and Abdul Moqeet officiated the match as umpires while Masood Anwaar acted as referee and Shakeel Ahmed scorer.–Staff Reporter

 

Three matches decided in Polo in Pink

LAHORE - Happy Cow Cheese, Honda Chenab and Guard Group registered victories in the Polo in Pink Happy Cow Cheese Tournament opening day matches here at the Lahore Polo Club on Tuesday. In the first match of the day, Happy Cow Cheese, having half goal handicap advantage, beat by MMS 5.5-5. For the winning side, M Usman Malik slammed three goals while Ibrahim Naveed and Nafees Barry hit one goal each. In the second match, Honda Chenab routed Dascon Construction by 7-4.5. For Honda Chenab, Ahmad Ali and Fahad Noon scored braces. In the third match of the day, Guard Group edged Rijas 6-5. For the winning side, Ahmad Nawaz hammered four goals while Taimur Ali Malik and Farasat Ali Chatha hit one goal apiece. Today (Wednesday), Diamond Paints will play against Envogue, Olympia will face Sherwood and Master Paints will vie against Adisseo.–Staff Reporter

 

 

Jazz Gold edge out Team 4 Horsemen

ISLAMABAD - Two goals by Jazz Gold’s Aun, supported by a half-goal handicap, helped the team narrowly edged out Team 4 Horsemen 4.5 to 4 in the final of the Jazz Polo Tournament 2016 played here at Islamabad Polo Club ground. The tournament was organised in line with Jazz’s promise to empower societies by providing relevant resources to guide them towards success. The four-team tournament, consisting of both local and international professional players, got underway on October 19. CCO Mobilink Asif Aziz lauded the winning team for their outstanding performance. “Jazz has been organising various sporting events since its inception, as a means to promote sports in the country. Shafiq steers Shifa cricket team to win

ISLAMABAD - Skipper Shafiq Aslam Awan helped Shifa International Hospital Islamabad cricket team beat Weather Ford Islamabad by 42 runs in a friendly fixture played here at Quaid-e-Azam University cricket ground on Monday. Shifa, batting first, were bowled out for 189 in the 29th over of the allotted 30 overs. Faisal Iqbal was top scorer with 35 runs while Tahir Akhtar added 29, Ali Mubashir 21 and M Ikram 20. Khan and Ali Shah shared two wickets each conceding 19 and 25 runs respectively. In reply, Weather Ford could score 147 in 25.3 overs. Shafiq Aslam Awan was the wrecker-in-chief as he destroyed top order with his deadly fast bowling and grabbed 6-26, while Ali Mubashir took 2-11 and Shahbaz Afzal 1-19. aRoots Millennium I-9 Campus victorious

ISLAMABAD – Roots Millennium I-9 Campus won the Inter-Region T20 Tournament 2016 after defeating Roots Millennium E-11 Campus by 12 runs in the final played here at Sohail Tanveer Cricket Academy, Muslim High School Ground Rawalpindi. Roots, batting first, put a decent total of 173 in the allotted overs. Babar top scored with 67 while Khurram contributed 30 and Ahmed 25 runs. In reply, Roots E-11 Campus were bowled out for 161. Wamik hammered stylish 64, but as soon as he was out, the final became a one-sided affair, as I-9 Campus wrapped up remaining wickets without any major trouble. Roots Millennium Schools sports organiser Zahoor Ahmed Bhatti lauded all the branches for putting up such decent show and especially appreciated Roots Millennium I-9 Campus for winning the trophy.–Staff Reporter
