National Bank smell victory against Habib Bank

LAHORE - National Bank of Pakistan needed 144 runs against Habib Bank in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match and were eight for no loss at the stumps of the second day here at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. NBP resumed their first innings at overnight score of 198 for eight wickets and were all out for the same score. In their second innings, Habib Bank batsmen again failed to impress and were bundled out for 226 runs in 68.1 overs. Imran Farhat scored 101 with the help of 17 fours while Danish Kaneria scored 48 runs. In their second innings, National Bank were eight for no loss at the close of the second day and in need of 136 more runs for victory. In another match played here at LCCA Ground, Wapda team scored 138 runs for the loss of three wickets on the second day. Earlier, Wapda were all out on 227 with Shoaib Maqsood scoring 69 runs while Asad Ali and Yasir Shah claimed four wickets each for 60 and 59 runs respectively. In reply, SNGPL were bundled out on 141 runs in 36 overs. Ali Raza was unbeaten with 54 while Kashif Raza grabbed five wickets for 31. Hafiz Asad Baig who was unbeaten 82 over night reached his hundred and was dismissed by leg spinner by Imranullah after a stay of 325 minutes. Karachi first innings ended at 265 all out exactly 200 hundred ahead in first innings. Multan, which had collapsed to 65 in the first innings, improved their performance in second innings after opener Ghulam Fareed played a fine innings of 95. Multan's second innings at the close of the third day play stood at 205 for eight. Only five runs ahead on the aggregate with just two wickets in hand. Karachi pacer Tabish Khan captured four for 66. So far he had grabbed nine wickets in the match. He had taken five for 33 in the first innings. Off spinner Misbah Khan, who remained wicket-less in the first innings, took three for 40 in the second innings. Monday is the third day of the match.
