American Castlin inspired by lane snub

DES MOINES- Kristi Castlin says the slight of being placed on the far outside lane was all the motivation she needed to snap Brianna Rollins' 19-race win streak in the 100 metre hurdles. Castlin edged fellow American Rollins with a time of 12.571 to win the race on the second day of the Drake Relays Saturday. "I had a little bit of a chip on my shoulder being in lane eight," said Castlin. "I had to execute my best race since I was out there on my own." Rollins finished second in 12.576, halting a win streak that dated back the 2012 Olympic Trials. Rollins, who plans to runs next week in Jamaica, said she wasn't thinking about the streak. "This was a great opener. I just wanted to run a relaxed race and tried to focus on myself. Someone else beat me to the line but that's okay."–AFP
