ISLAMABAD The Anti-Doping Organisation of Pakistan (ADOP) formed a three-member appellate committee to hear the case of athletes Sadaf Sidiqui and Javeria Hassan who had been banned after testing dope positive. According to a spokesman for Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), the committee would meet on Thursday (tomorrow) at PSB Coaching Centre Lahore. ADOP constituted said committee under the chairmanship of Syed Amir Hamza Gillani, Director General PSB, while Mohammad Khalid Mehmood, Secretary Athletic Federation of Pakistan and Dr. Major (Retd) Lubna Sibtain, Member POA Medical & Scientific Commission, would be the members of the committee. An inquiry committee of ADOP imposed two-year ban on the sprinters Sadaf Sidiqui and Javeria Hassan after their tests were found positive on using prohibited substances. The dope tests were conducted during on-going national camps for upcoming Commonwealth Games (India) and Asians Games (China). Sadaf represented Pakistan in 100-meter sprint event in the Beijing Olympics, while Javeria is an emerging athlete. Both players have pleaded innocent claiming that they had not wilfully taken any performance-enhancing substances.
