Pakistan is placed in a tough Super Eights group that includes Australia, arch-rivals India and South Africa. They will face tough Proteas test Friday (today). Each team required to win at least two matches to move to the semi-finals. It is feared that monsoon rains can also spoil any team chances and push them out of the contention despite having good performances as witnessed in the league round matches. The schedule announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) without any alternate day for the rained off match will also play a vital role in any team's ouster. The ICC should have a clear plan to help the organisers hold the World Cups in a befitting manner in future. Pakistan tour selection committee should also sit together along with coach and captain to select the right team to field in the match whereas Umar Gul is appeared struggling in the event and has been unable so far to bowl according to his ability for what he has been considered as one of the best bowlers in the shorter format of the game. Pakistan should open their innings with right and left combination through Imran Nazir, who succeeded in getting back his form in the last league match against Bangladesh, and Nasir Jamshed who is also proving his mettle to stamp his authority and to get a permanent place in the Pakistan side. Hafeez should come at one down position to block one end up and finish the match with his presence at the crease. He should learn the captaincy skills from Indian skipper MS Dhoni who sets field with the consultation of bowler and has succeeded in his attempts to win the matches for India. Hafeez under pressure could not take right decision timely that also affecting his captaincy skills. He must learn from other captains and monitor their strategies they maintained during the league matches at a pressure time. If he will remove this weakness then he can become a good captain. But for the time being, it is obvious that he has no knowledge of captaincy that has been rendering batting and bowling abilities of the team useless. He must consult seniors to make any bowling change decision during the last five overs to curtail the opposition batsmen scoring and stop flurry of runs. Pakistanis are hoping good show from Saeed Ajmal and he should deliver for Pakistan to win the World Twenty20 Cup for second time as earlier they won under the captaincy of Younus Khan in 2009. Pakistan has a unique record of reaching the final three times but won the mega event just once. Pakistan must keep check on Hashim Amla, who is in superb form, AB de Villiers, Jacques Kallis, JP Duminy and Albie Morkel as all are in good nicks and performing well for South Africa. Pakistan should have to combat fast bowlers Dale Steyn, Mornie Morkel, Albie Morkel and spinner Johan Botha if they want to win match against the Proteas. Pakistan need to do hard work to win matches against the new-look team of Australia as they have some good players in their fold and can turn the tables on the opponents on their day. India have also some good players like Virat Kohali, Suresh Raina, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni himself and all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who is delivering for India after making comeback in the team. They have the services of Balaji, Irfan Pathan, spinner Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh and part time bowlers Yuvraj and Suresh Raina who bowled well in the league matches. If Pakistan go with a game plan and follow it in letter and spirit, they will move on smoothly and win the World Cup. They should not be lenient as if they reach at death stages and lost two matches then they would have to come back to Pakistan. They should play sensibly to move to semi-finals as they possess great abilities. Pakistan tour selection committee should also have a complete check and balance on some players who were suspicion of fixing to avoid any indecent incident during the tournament.
