ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan and Selection Committee (SC) and sought reply from them, in connection with petition seeking life time ban on cricket players involved in spot fixing.
A single bench of IHC led by Justice Athar Minallah took up the case for hearing today. Hanif Kachchi counsel for the petitioner Ehtesham ul Haq appeared in the court and took the plea, that the players including Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Asif and Suleman Butt who were involved in spot fixing are being allowed to play while word zero tolerance has been used in the constitution of PCB for corruption. Therefore, PCB is prevented from allowing the players involved in spot fixing to play in Pakistani team, he prayed. PCB is violating its own constitution, he added.
He further told the court that cricketers Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Asif and Suleman Butt had admitted about their involvement in spot fixing and this has brought ill fame for Pakistan at international level. Therefore ban be imposed on these players for playing domestic and international cricket, he prayed.
The court, while summoning chairman PCB Shehryar Khan and selection committee has sought reply from them besides adjourning the hearing of the case till December 31.
The petitioner cricket commentator Ehtesham ul Haq has made chairman PCB and selection committee respondents.
