ISLAMABAD - Tayyab Aslam clinched the 5th Roshan Khan Junior Open Squash Championship U-19 boys’ title while Sadia Gul lifted the U-19 females’ title here at PN Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Thursday.
Both the players played exceptionally and provided the spectators a chance to witness quality squash. Tayyab faced a lot of resistance in winning the first game 11-9 and same happened in the second game which Tayyab won 11-9 after a tough battle. Israr then lost the momentum and was looking tired which allowed Tayyab to finish of the third game 11-7 and he won the boys U-19 title to pocket Rs 85,000 cash prize while Israr was received Rs 53,500 as runners-up prize.  Pakistan promising player Sadia Gul edged out Faiza Zafar to clinch the U-19 title. Surprisingly, Sadia had to face stiff resistance in the first game but she played well and won it 11-9. Sadia made too many unforced errors which resulted in Faiza taking the second game 11-8. It was like an eye-opener for Sadia who then bounced back and won the next two games 11-4, 11-1 to grab the title. Sadia was awarded Rs 42,800 as winning purse while Faiza received Rs 26,750 as runners-up.  Talking to The Nation, Sadia Gul said: “I was pretty confident that I would manage to take the title as I had worked very hard in the training. I was on low for the past few months, but I had full idea about my weaknesses and I tried to remove minor flaws from my game which resulted in winning the title.”
