Yousuf wins 1st National Jr Chess title


LAHORE – Yousuf Azeem Monday won the 1st National Junior Chess Championship held here at the Auditorium of Law College of Pakistan. The championship was organised by Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP) which was participated by the players from across the country. Yousuf won the championship by scoring 9/9 points. Ahmad Faraz from LUMS claimed the second position while Rana Sufyan from Faisalabad secured the third. Hot favorite Zorez Shabkhez could only satisfy himself with fourth position. Other notable players were Saira Rafique, Mehak Gul and Shafen Bader. Malik Khalid Yaqoob distributed trophies and cash prizes among the position holders. CFP secretary Dr Naeem Hamid Mirza said the top three were also awarded the right to participate in next National Chess Championship.–Staff Reporter
