PESHAWAR (APP) The second edition of the National Beach Wrestling Championship started here at Qayyum Sports Complex under the aegis of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation with two teams Wapda and Police stuck in Mardan due to heavy flood all around the provincial capital. The Wapda and Police teams, who were on motorway, were diverted to Mardan because of the heavy flood and closer of motorway from Mardan Inter-Change to Peshawar. There is no possibility of the teams to reach to provincial capital Peshawar, the site for the National Beach Wrestling Championship, Ch Asghar, Secretary of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation said here on Friday. Secretary General of the World, Asian and Pakistan Kabaddi Federation was also present. We have made all arrangements but due to diversion of the teams to Mardan, which was a bad decision taken the people concerned because both the teams were stuck in Mardan. We are worried about players and we asked them to keep away where the danger of flood is, Asghar said. He informed that the Balochistan team has already got stuck because of heavy flood despite their confirmation for Championship. He said: We have six teams competing for the top honour comprising the defending champion Army, Railways, Punjab, Sindh, Federal Capital team Islamabad and host Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. He said that besides holding the National Beach Wrestling Championship, we had also planned National Wrestling Championship in 2011 here. Ch Asghar said that a specially design beach had already been prepared for both practice and matches just in front of the main gallery. It was the second occasion that Khyber PK was hosting the event as in June last year, KPK Wrestling Association organised the event with support of the federation, he added.
