Mr Zulfikar Mirza of the PPP has uttered this time what may well be called a blasphemous statement. A television channel has reported him saying that anyone doing the democratic politics should first say the 'Kalima of PPP and then do politics. He had, you might recall, also openly raised the slogan of Pakistan Na-Khappay. Now he has invented a new Kalima. Pakistans creation is based on La Illaha Illillah so its not being prude when I say that such provocative, deliberately irreligious statements by PPP leaders do not bring any credit to the party. I ask do the PPP-wallas also have a new Prophet with this new Kalima? This sort of loose talk is a churlish attack on very foundation of the ideology of Pakistan for which millions of Muslims had sacrificed lives and withstood atrocities against our men, women and children in the secular state of India. It is time the Supreme Court took suo motu notice of the highly provocative utterances with clear anti Islamic and anti-national undertones from a PPP leader ignorant of the gravity of his words. -DR M.
