LAHORE Hours after the Supreme Court ordered the countrys top anti-corruption investigating agency, NAB, to take strict action against former Attorney General for his involvement in unlawfully withdrawing money laundering cases from Swiss court, Malik Muhammad Qayyum boarded a flight to Abu Dhabi in the wee hours of Wednesday. Well-informed sources in the Federal Investigation Agency confirmed to this reporter that Malik Qayyum, also the blue-eyed boy of former despot Pervez Musharraf, took flight EY-242 which left for Abu Dhabi at 03:45 am from Allama Iqbal International Airport. He was also accompanied by a female passenger, most probably his wife, the sources added. It is worth mentioning that Malik Qayyum had also served as a former senior judge of Lahore High Court but he opted to resign after a phone transcript was released, indicating his collusion with the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifs government to fix judgement in a case before him involving Benazir Bhutto. Qayyum denied but the voice in the conversation was his. The Lahore High Court was also moved challenging his appointment as attorney general along with another petition alleging fraud by his private office in execution of sales deeds. Qayyum is the son of Justice (r) Muhammad Akram, one of the four Punjabi judges who under the influence of General Ziaul Haqs military government sentenced Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to death. This fact was also noted by Benazir Bhutto in her book 'Reconciliation. To a question, a, officer of FIA said his (Qayyums) name was not on the ECL so he was not stopped from boarding the aircraft.
