It has been recently reported that the government is planning another operation in Karachi, to restore the law and order situation in the city. There have been various such operations carried out in the past, but the results have not been very positive. The concentration should be directed towards reforming and reviewing the performance of police, as they have the primary responsibility for the security situation. The non-performance of the police force especially in Karachi is attributed to rampant corruption and political interference.
