RAWALPIN – Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) on Saturday confiscated 70 tyres, three trucks loaded with goods from different city markets in its campaign against encroachments while 26 shopkeepers were also imposed fines amounting to Rs 26,000.
TMA spokesman told that over 70 tyres from tyre shops of different city markets were also confiscated as the city district government had strictly warned the shopkeepers that tyres, new and old, should be properly packed and covered which will help reduce the risk of the dengue spreading.
The anti-encroachment operation with campaign to check tyre shops has been accelerated in the city which was launched on the directives of Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa. During the operation, TMA fined 26 shopkeepers and confiscated tyres from Glass Factory, Gungmandi and Cha Sultan areas which were not properly covered and displayed in the open.
The operation to check unpacked tyres is being carried out in various city markets while under anti-encroachment operation raids are also being conducted and today, three trucks loaded with goods were confiscated which has been deposited in the TMA store, he informed.
He said that the administrator has urged the shopkeepers to cooperate with the TMA staff and take preventive measures to deal with the killer disease.
He said that strict action in accordance with the rules is being taken against those violating the orders.
