Dr Sarfraz Mirza laid to rest


LAHORE – Renowned scholar and Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Research and Publications Department Director Dr Sarfraz Hussain Mirza was laid to rest here on Saturday.
TheNation Editor-in-Chief and NPT Chairman Majid Nizami, NPT Vice-chairman Dr Rafique Ahmed, Professor Muzaffar Mirza, Ashgar Ali Kausar Warraich, Dr Farasat, Chaudhary Muhammad Yaqoob, Chaudhary Bashir, Professor Qamar Abbas, Shahid Rasheed, Rafaqat Riaz, NPT workers and hundreds of people from different walks of life attended the funeral prayers which were held at DHA Lahore.
Late Dr Mirza was being treated at a local hospital for some time now due to ailment and died on Friday.
He was born in Lahore in 1940 and received his early education from Military College Jehlum and completed his PhD degree from Punjab University. During his life, he served as a head of South Asia Studies Centre Punjab University and wrote about three dozen reference books on the Pakistan Movement. He had also served as member of foreign policy advisory group under the foreign ministry.
Majid Nizami, Dr Rafique and Pakistan Movement Workers’ Trust Chairman Colonel (R) Jamshed Ahmed Tareen, in their condolence messages to the family, paid glowing tribute to the national and educational services of late Dr Sarfraz Hussain. They prayed that Allah Almighty rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family members to bear this irreparable loss.
Quran Khawani for the departed soul will be held after Zuhar prayer, today (Sunday) at his residence 30/A Punjab Small Industrial Cooperative Housing Society near V Block DHA.
