SHO, 8 cops booked for abuse of power






KASUR – On the orders of the Lahore High Court, the Kot Radha Kishan police on Saturday registered a case against its own SHO and 8 other police officials for abuse of power.
According to complainant Kareem Bibi, a police party headed by SHO Rizwan Manzoor raided her house on the night of March 19, 2012 in connection with the arrest of her husband and her brother in a case. The police arrested Muhammad Sarwar and Umer and while leaving took away one motorcycle, 50,000 rupees in cash, gold ornaments, cell phone and other valuables. Later, a bailiff recovered Sarwar and Umer from the illegal custody of police. On the orders of the LHC, the police registered a case against the police officials.
LIQUOR TAKES 2 LIVES: Poisonous liquor claimed the lives of two teenage labourers here on Saturday at village Burj Kalan in the limits of Ganda Singh police.
Labourers Intizar Hussain and Abdul Rehman took poisonous liquor while working at a bamboo unit on Friday night. They died on Saturday morning before they were taken to hospital. Police handed over the bodies to the families of the victims after legal formalities.
It must be remembered that the Kasur police were on a crackdown against drug pushers and about 200 cases have been registered in this regard with the arrest of about 150 accused and recovered thousands of bottles of liquor and other drugs.
