KHANEWAL - The submission of nomination papers reached its peak as 129 candidates filed their papers for four National Assembly and eight Provincial Assembly seats here in the district.
According to details provided by the office of District Returning Officer Khalid Naveed Dar, a total of 129 nomination papers have been submitted so far - 41 for four National Assembly constituencies and 88 for eight Punjab Assembly seats. Constituency wise break-up is for NA-156 nine nomination papers were filed, for PP-212 six, for PP-213 15, for NA-157 10, for PP-214 17, for PP-215 six, for NA-158 six, for PP-216 eight and for PP-217, 14 nomination papers were submitted. Similarly for NA-159 16 nomination papers were filed, for PP-218 10 and for PP-219, 12 nominations were submitted in the office of concerned returning officers. According to analysis of these 129 nomination papers, the candidates of PML-N, PPP, MQM, independent, PML-Q, PTI, JI and JUI are in the run.
On the other hand, due to uncertainty created by the main political parties by not announcing their candidates in their respective constituencies, a large number of candidates are declaring themselves as the parties ticket holder which has confused the voters.
