Ensuring free, fair polls a collective task: Governor


PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah has said that no effort is being spared to maintain peace and bring rapid normalcy in FATA, which is also a must to ensure conduct of general elections in a free, fair and transparent atmosphere.  This, he added, is our collective responsibility, which they all have to shoulder jointly, he added.
Addressing delegations of tribal elders who have come from different tribal agencies of FATA at the Governor’s House, here on Sunday, the Governor also urged the tribal elders to fully cooperate with the government at every level in making this possible.
The members of delegations also highlighted certain difficulties and problems especially with regard to ensuring rehabilitation of the affected people with an accelerated pace.
Appreciating the spirit of the tribal elders, the Governor also pointed out that special efforts are underway for ensuring efficient working of the educational and health care facilities throughout FATA and it is hoped that a visible improvement will emerge.
Responding to various points raised on this occasion the Governor further stated that there is also dire need to maintain complete unity and cohesion at every level amongst them to make the maintenance of peaceful atmosphere possible.
Meanwhile, the Governor said that the business and trade oriented activities are important in ensuring economic development of the country and to make prosperous future for the people possible.
With this fact in mind, he added, it is highly encouraging to witness the state of realization amongst the entrepreneurs of the province to make their role fully useful.
He was talking to a delegation of prominent traders, representing Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which called on him under the leadership of its President, Haji Haleem Jan at Governor’s House, Peshawar, on Sunday.
The Governor further observed that the exemplary level of spirit of courage demonstrated by the business community of the province in facing difficulties in wake of extremism and terrorism is indeed well acknowledged and it will always be his utmost effort to remain in touch with them to help them in resolution of their difficulties.
The Governor also reminded the businessmen of the provincial capital to keep vigil eyes on their surroundings and maintain complete liaison with the respective law enforcement agencies to ensuring maintenance of law and order and ensure safe and secure working of their businesses.
Responding to various points raised by the traders the Governor also assured to take necessary steps for materialization of their practicable proposals.
