LAHORE – Misbah-ul-Haq-led Faisalabad Wolves outclassed defending champions Sialkot Stallions to clinch the Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty20 Cup for the first time here at the jam-packed Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.Wolves won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision proved costly for Wolves as they lost two of their wickets early at the score of 16 when Farrukh Shehzad (8) and Ali Waqas (1) fell cheaply. Asif Ali then led the team from the front and played one of the finest innings of the tournament collecting 70 runs off 49 balls laced with six fours and three towering sixes. Asif and Khurram Shehzad added significant 63 runs for the third-wicket before Khurram lost his wicket to spinner Raza Hasan in 13th over when he was playing at 30. Misbah then came to the crease and assisted Asif in order to post a decent total of 158-3. Misbah played sensible innings of 25-ball 38 runs hitting two fours and three sixes and silenced his critics with his outstanding knocks throughout the event and proved that he is still fit for even T20s and he can deliver well for Pakistan in any format of the game.Umaid Asif, Shoaib Malik and Raza Hassan got one wicket each but rest of the bowlers including Rana Navedul Hassan (4 overs no wickets for 42), Adeel Malik (2 overs no wicket for 17 runs) and Abdul Rehman (4 overs no wicket for 26) proved very costly for Stallions.Superb bowling and excellent fielding by Wolves were the main features of the final match which kept on putting pressure on their opponents and helping them to restrict to 122 runs winning the match by 36 runs. Shakeel Ansar, Ali Khan, Umaid Asif and Mansoor Amjad were the batsmen who even did not manage to reach double figures. Captain Shoaib and Ayaz Tasawwar then showed some resistance and established a 63-run fifth-wicket partnership. One of the most successful bowlers of the tournament Ehsan Adil then came to break the partnership by showing Tasawwar the pavilion at his personal score of 28 off 26 balls. Shoaib tried to win it single-handedly but Ehsan was too hot for Stallions as he bowled them out cheaply. He also took important wicket of Shoaib who scored 39-ball 40 with the help of four fours and one six. After Shoaib’s departure, no Stallions batsmen could face the outstanding bowling of Wolves and lost their wickets cheaply as they were all out for 122 runs in 19.1 overs. Ehsan was the hero of the day as he clinched three wickets for 36 while Asad Ali grabbed three wickets for 21.Outstanding performers Misbah with his 206 runs was named the best batsman of the tournament.The best player of the final  went to Asif Ali.The highest scorer in the final award went to Asif Ali .Most stylish batsman of the tournament went to Asif Ali.The most aggressive bowler of the final was Ehsan Adil.Ehsan Adil and Asad Ali were the best bowlers of the final.The best wicketkeeper of the final was Shakeel Ansar.Ahmed Shahzad was declared the best fielder of the tournament.
