POs carrying head money arrested


SIALKOT - Police claimed to have arrested three proclaimed offenders including Usman Yaqub alias Shani, Nasir alias Bablu bearing head money of Rs 0.5m announced by the Punjab govt each.
District Police Officer Ather Ismail disclosed this talking to the newsmen. SP (Investigation) Sialkot Asad Sarfraz Khan and senior member Sialkot District Peace Committee Zafar Malik were also present. The DPO added that a police team led by inspector Zulfiqar Ahmed Chatta, SHO of Cantt police, raided a hideout in outskirts of Lahore and arrested both the accused. The accused were wanted by police in 36 cases of kidnapping for ransom, dacoity, murder during dacoity, money extortion, robbery and other heinous cases.

He narrated that the Sialkot police had also arrested PO Shehbaz alias Shehbazu, who was wanted by police in two cases of murder during dacoity and 24 cases of kidnapping for ransom, dacoity and robbery. He revealed that the accused had been a sign of terror in the Sialkot region. The DPO announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the raiding party.
circular debt report bemoaned:  Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Sheikh Abdul Majid expressed his concerns over the Planning Commission and USAID circular debt report. He said that due to non-collection of revenue of Rs384.5 billion, the national exchequer was burdened by a loss of Rs72.2 billion. In a press statement issued here, he said that due to poor governance, delays in tariff determination and poor revenue collection, the business community and general public was suffering at large.
The SCCI president said that the report must also include the net loss incurred to the national exchequer because of delay caused in production process pertaining to power outages. He emphasised that the caretaker government, apart from holding the scheduled general elections, must also take action to reduce loadshedding.
