Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has pledged spare no effort for the uplift and beautification of Sialkot city, saying that all out resources will be utilised to make Sialkot a model district of Punjab.

Kh Asif stated this while talking to local MPAs Manshaullah Butt, Ch Muhammad Ikram and Ch Arshad Javaid Warraich. PML-N District President Idrees Ahmed Bajwa and General Secretary Shujaat Ali Pasha and leaders including Mehmoodul Hassan Babar Khan, Tariq Mehmood were also present on the occasion.

The federal minister revealed that Sialkot deserved to be a model city as the PML-N government was taking keen interest in its socioeconomic development and beautification.

He added that Sialkot would soon be made a model district by raising living standard of its dwellers through early and smooth provision of all basic facilities at their doorsteps.

The Federal Defence Minister also reviewed the pace of work on ongoing development projects in the district.

He said that 100 beds well-equipped cardiology would start functioning at Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital Sialkot in June 2014. He said that the Sialkot Campus of the University of Punjab would also be established adjacent to the ground of Govt Jinnah Islamia College Sialkot to provide higher education facilities to local students at local level.

Federal Minister also announced early dualization of 100-km long Sialkot-Eimanabad Road, saying that work on the project would be started in September 2014.

He added that the PML-N had successfully put the country on the highway to success, economical and political stability by taking some very important decisions.

The PML-N government had undertaken several revolutionary steps to pull the country out of persisting energy crisis, besides, tackling the internal and external issues, he said.

Kh Asif urged the elected representatives to motivate the masses to end the unnecessary use of electricity in the peak hours, besides, ensuring early closure of all the markets, bazaars, shops and shopping centres in the evening, saying that the government would soon announce a schedule in this regard. He urged the people to end the unnecessary use of the electricity and to use the alternative resources of energy, besides, ensuring the maximum use of sun light and energy.

Federal Minister added that saving of electricity was a national obligation and the demand of the day, as the people could change the fate of the country by changing their old habits including the unnecessary use of power and gas. “We have to refine define our national policies, besides, keeping the sequence of these priorities properly”, he added.

He hoped that the federal government would soon import gas from the other countries. He said that the gas crisis will be better till the end of 2015.
