ISLAMABAD - Former Pakistan national cricket team chief selector and coach Mohsin Hasan Khan praised the national team's performance against Bangladesh in the World T20 match but expressed his utter surprise over Juniad Khan's exclusion from the playing XI.

Talking to The Nation, Mohsin said: “After Umar Gul, Junaid is the best available fast bowling option and I am amazed why the team management is continuously ignoring him? I agree it is the right for the team management to decide whom to pick and drop, but dropping Junaid doesn't make any sense.”

“It is really surprising to keep Junaid out of all the three matches and now all of a sudden, the team management has decided to include him in the do-or-die match against West Indies which is a great injustice with him and will put extra pressure on him. In my opinion, he is good enough with the new ball and can be lethal with the old ball as well,” he added.

Mohsin further said: “Zulfiqar Babar proved his selection right by bowling exceptionally. West Indian batmen are well known of playing fast bowlers aggressively. Though Bilawal Bhatti, M Talha and Sohail Tanvir are very good bowlers yet the team management must decide about the final XI after carefully watching the pitch situation. I think the management should stick with the same winning combination with the only exception of Junaid who should be replaced with Sohail Tanvir.” To a query regarding Sohaib Malik's inclusion in the playing XI, he replied: “I still believe Malik is a complete all-rounder as he can bat and bowl well and also a very active fielder. If I have to select the team, I will still consider Misbahul Haq, no matter he is a 20 overs player or not because he is physically very fit and backbone of Pakistan middle order. When the team loses early wickets, only a player of Misbah's caliber can make the difference.” “The team must enter the match with positive frame of mind and the right combination. Winning attitude and positive mentality holds key to Pakistan team's success and the body language must be positive and Hafeez must lead the team from the front. I think Pakistan team has bright chances of beating the defending champions,” Mohsin concluded.
