ISLAMABAD - Six Commodores of Pakistan Navy have been promoted to the rank of Rear Admirals with immediate effect.
According to Pakistan Navy, they are Dr Nassar Ikram, Sajid Wazir Khan, Asif Hameed, Zain Zulfiqar, Faisal Rasul Lodhi and Zahid Ilyas.
Rear Admiral Dr Nassar Ikram was commissioned in Weapon Engineering branch in 1983. He is a graduate of National Defence University, Islamabad and holds Masters Degree in Military Electronic System Engineering from Cranfield University UK, Masters Degree in National Security and War Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and Doctorate Degree in Cryptography from Bradford University, UK. His distinguished appointments include Deputy Director General ISI and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (C4 I) at Naval Headquarters (NHQ). Presently, he is serving as Commandant Pakistan Navy Engineering College. In Recognition of his meritorious services, he was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military).
Rear Admiral Sajid Wazir Khan was commissioned in Marine Engineering Branch in 1984. He is a graduate of National Defence University, Islamabad. He holds Masters Degree in Thermodynamics from University of Stratclyde, UK and Masters Degree in National Security & War Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. His distinguished appointments include Principal Engineer at Maritime Technologies Complex, General Manager (Ship Building) at KS&EW and Managing Director PN Dockyard. Presently, he is performing the duties of Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Maintenance) at NHQ. In recognition of his meritorious services, he was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military).
Rear Admiral Asif Hameed was commissioned in Operations Branch in 1985. He is a graduate of National Defence University Islamabad and Naval War College USA. He holds Masters Degree in National Security & War Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. He has commanded Combined Task Force 151, 25th Destroyer Squadron and Pakistan Navy Ship SHAHJAHAN. His other distinguished appointments include; Director Naval Operations at NHQ, Chief of Staff to Commander Combined Task Force 150 at HQ US NAVCENT Bahrain, Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations) and Chief Staff Officer to Flag Officer Sea Training. He is presently performing the duties of Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Frigate Project) at NHQ. In recognition of meritorious services, he was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military). Rear Admiral Zain Zulfiqar was commissioned in Operations Branch in 1987. He is a graduate of National Defence University Islamabad and Naval Command College China. He holds Masters Degree in National Security & War Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. He has commanded an Aviation Squadron and 10th Patrol Craft Squadron. His other distinguished appointments include Commander Air, Director Naval Warfare & Operational Plans at NHQ and Directing Staff at National Defence University Islamabad. He is presently performing the duties of Commander Naval Aviation. In recognition of his meritorious services, he was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Eisaar.
Rear Admiral Faisal Rasul Lodhi was commissioned in Operations Branch in 1986. He is a graduate of Royal College of Defence Studies (UK), National Defence University, Islamabad and Naval Staff College (Philippines). He holds Masters Degree in National Security & War Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University (Islamabad).
He has commanded Pakistan Navy Ship TARIQ. His other distinguished appointments include Directing Staff at PN War College, Director Naval Warfare and Operational Plans at NHQ, Deputy Naval Secretary and Chief Staff Officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet. He is presently performing the duties of Naval Secretary at NHQ. In recognition of his meritorious services, he was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military).
Rear Admiral Zahid Ilyas was commissioned in Operations Branch in 1988. He is a graduate of National Defence University (Islamabad), Royal Military College of Science (UK) and Naval Command College (China).
He holds Masters Degree in National Security & War Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and Military Operational Research from Cranfield University, UK. He has commanded 18th Destroyer Squadron, Pakistan Naval Academy, Pakistan Navy Ships BABUR and ZULFIQUAR. He was also the First Captain of the Chinese F22P class ship. His other distinguished appointments include Directing Staff PN War College and Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff. He is presently performing the duties of Commander Combined Task Force 151 at HQ US NAVCENT Bahrain. In recognition of meritorious services, he was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Basalat.
