Private schools in Lahore have again embarked on a campaign to fleece parents. Now without providing the much-needed security the payment of security fees has been made mandatory. Two months’ fee during the summer vacation has become become an established practice. School van contractors are also following suit by charging the transportation fee for the vacation period. It appears the government has allowed the private schools association to loot students and parents. Many school owners are closely connected with government functionaries whether they are former or sitting members of the government. This is misuse of power bordering on injustice. The state of Pakistan has abdicated its responsibility to provide security, education and health to its citizens.
