Education is back in Malakand schools

All government and private schools have been reopened today in Malakand division, including those in the conflict-hit districts of Swat, Buner and Lower Dir, following the military offensive against the Taliban. Some teachers were unable to reach the schools due to curfew imposed in some areas. There are 6,034 government schools in Malakand Agency including Swat in which 950,000 students are enrolled.All the necessary arrangements have been completed to open schools from today, according to a press release issued by the education department. Teachers have been directed to remain present and resume their duties as they are not allowed to avail any more vacations.
