ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar has said the government is taking measures to provide reasonable place to live to the slum dwellers. While talking to private news channel, he said the ministry will settle all the issues step by step by giving relaxation in rules. The minister said that some 5300 houses have been constructed now. It is unfair that one rejected politician just to settle score instigate slum dwellers to occupy official land. The land in question is owned by WASA, which was allotted to it by the government of Punjab at Chakshahzad in 1996. Some politicians and government officials had been involved in settling wrongly to displaced people in Islamabad but it does not mean these people have a right to occupy the land. In the wake of present world economic meltdown, we are unable to build millions of new houses for roofless people. President and Prime Minister have summoned many meeting in this regard. If these people prove their ownership rights they will have the right to occupy the land.
