16,500 tons waste disposed

LAHORE - The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) disposed of 16,500 tons of waste during its cleanliness operation on Eid.
The operation was begun on moon night and finished on third day of Eid which, besides manual sweeping, also included mechanical sweeping and washing of major roads, underpasses, pedestrian bridges across the city. Mosques, Eidgahs and some 400 places dedicated for Eid prayers were also given clean look. Mechanical compactors of Albayrak and Ozpak remained on road for timely emptying of waste containers.  According to a press release issued on Thursday, MD LWMC Khalid Majeed remained in the field during three days of Eid to monitor operational arrangements across the city. 
Majeed visited several choking points after heavy rain spells and appreciated on duty staff for their dedicated work.
LWMC communication department along with Albayrak team carried out awareness campaign on second and third day of Eid respectively at Lahore Zoo and Race Course Park to sensitise visitors about proper disposal of waste.
 Manager Operations Suhail Anwar Malik, Manager Communication Jamil Khawar, Assistant Managers Asad Ahmed, M Umair Khan, Rehman Rashid and Sadia Rafiq from albayrak participated in the campaign.
