Independence Day ceremonies begin

Islamabad- The government has chalked out a plan to celebrate the 68th Independence Day of Pakistan.
Under the plan, a range of special ceremonies will begin today and will continue throughout August, highlighting the struggle of our forefathers for an independent country and the sacrifices rendered by martyrs for this national cause.
The government has asked all the Pakistanis to raise national flag on their homes and vehicles to send a message of unity and solidarity to the internal and external enemies of Pakistan.
A special parade and a fly past would be held in Islamabad on the night of 13th and 14th August while a traditional Independence Day ceremony would also be arranged on the morning of 14th August.
The government will encourage the civil society, NGOs, bars, professional organizations and religious leaders to ensure maximum participation in the Independence Day celebrations.
The government also plans to hold special programmes for IDPs of North Waziristan to express solidarity with them and the armed forces of Pakistan.
Pakistan Railways would run an Azadi Train from Peshawar on 11th of this month that would reach Karachi on September 11 after covering a distance of four thousand kilometers.
Sports competitions will also be held at district and Tehsil level in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.
