Pakistan, IMF to hold talks for economic review

ISLAMABAD
Pakistan and International Monetary Fund (IMF) will hold talks in Dubai on August 6 in respect of economic review for the 4th quarterly of the previous financial year 2013-14.
Ministry of Finance sources said IMF will review a range of matters including economic targets set by Pakistan for the period from April-June 2014, efficiency of State Bank of Pakistan, recovery of taxes and headway made in privatisation process.
The matters related to withdrawal of tax exemption as has been proposed by IMF will also come under discussion in the meeting, sources added.
IMF will release 5th tranche of $550 million grant to Pakistan following successful review of economic review.
Data with regard to last quarterly of the fiscal 2013-14 has been summoned from all ministries, divisions and institutions in connection with 4th economic review by IMF.
Finance ministry has sent letters to all the respective institutions in this respect.
