A prisoner was killed allegedly due to torture of jail staff in District Jail here on the other day. Later the bereaved family staged a protest demonstration against the jail authorities and blocked the road.
The Punjab Chief Minister has taken notice of the incident while judicial inquiry has also been ordered into the incident.
As per details, a prisoner namely Mohammad Imran, involved in a robbery case, sustained critical injuries due to alleged torture of the jail officials. He was shifted to DHQ Hospital in deteriorated condition from the District Jail Sargodha where he breathed his last.
Following the prisoner’s death, the bereaved family gathered at DHQ Hospital and staged protest demonstration. Lather they also staged a protest at their village Ajnala and suspended all kind traffic on Sargodha-Bhalwal Road for hours. They demanded stern action against the perpetrators. On the other hand, according to the District Jail administration, a prisoner Mohammad Imran, son of Mohammad Rafiq, convicted for a term of four years in FIR No 479/11 under sections 392/411 registered by the Saddr Police, slipped off the stairs and got himself injured. He was shifted to DHQ Hospital in serious condition where breathed his last.

The revelation of Holy Quran, and the preservation of its original text for more than 1,400 years, is a continuous miracle, added Dr Akram. The Holy Quran would illuminate the world in general and the Muslim society in particular, he added. “The holy book teaches and encourages us to proceed further for achieving our Islamic goals as per the ways determined by Almighty Allah and shown by Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) through his practical life.

The University of Sargodha is lucky with regard to its faculty and students’ love for the Holy Quran as there are 890 Huffaz out of 28,000 students. No tuition fee is charged from these Huffaz. No such example could be quoted for other varsities,” he added.
Prof Fazal-e-Haq said, “If we, the Muslim, attach ourselves with the Holy Quran, we will prove to be the most successful nation in the world.”
