Peshawar police laud public support against crimes

PESHAWAR - Capital city police has lauded the role of local people for cooperating with police in controlling crimes, apprehending criminals and against Afghan nationals who have illegally acquired Pakistan’s Computerized National Identity Cards.

The Capital City Police Peshawar under the Police Information Network (PIN) project received 3500 telephone calls of local people informing police about the presence of extortionists, target killers or their facilitators, or wanted to police in other criminal cases, and about the Afghan nationals who have acquired Pakistan’s Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) illegally, said SSP Operation Abbas Majeed Marwat in a statement issued here on Sunday.

He said that police on the basis of these information police taken in-time action against those criminals who were wanted by police in murder, decoity, and target killing like criminal cases and arrested most of them.

He also hailed the active role of local people informing police, under the PIN, about the Afghan nationals who have acquired Pakistani Computerized National Identity Cards illegally.

He said police after making verification of the bogus identity cards through intelligence agencies blocked scores of CNIC and lodged FIRs against them.

He also revealed that in these Afghan nationals many were found involved in target killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom like criminal activities.

The SSP said that with the cooperation of local people about 42 per cent decrease was observed in decoties, kidnapping and extortion like cases.

He vowed to carry on such strike operation against criminals on public information, and take stern action against those who got Pakistani CNICs through bogus means.

He urged upon the masses to keep extending cooperation to police against criminals elements.
